Zavod K6/4 is one of Slovenian leading promoters of media art, computer culture and open source software. Zavod K6/4 is education, organization and multimedia service provider, a platform for artistic creation as well as internet applications based on open source technologies. Every year more than 100 courses and lectures, 250 cultural events and 20 new artworks are produced. Comprehensive online and offline program explanations accompany all productions for attendants and visitors.
Its main objective is to provide independent platform for all pedagogic, technical and artistic research regarding media and computer art and science. Current emphasis lies on digitization and monitoring of media art, development of open source software and widening of highly qualified editorial and content specialist staff for on- and offline-productions. Zavod K6/4 successfully coordinated projects in European Culture 2000 program in 2001 and Network of multimedia centers, supported by European Regional Development Fund.
Zavod K6/4 was founded in 2000, but its constitutional projects were run separately in the field of arts and culture in the years that go back much further than the establishment of Zavod K6/4, some also from 1989 on.
